Transformers: The Last Knight Dragonstorm Figure Review

I remember Transformers as a child, one toy in particular that I remember playing with was the Optimus Prime transformer truck. I have no idea who's it was but I remember transforming it and being utterly amazed by the idea of a car turning into a robot.

Now I'm going to tell you a little secret, I haven't actually watched any of the Transformers films as of yet but after seeing the above trailer I think we are going to have to have a movie night.

Dragonstorm is a three-headed fire-breathing dragon that at the flick of a button transformers into a knight.  Featuring Cyberfire technology which when interaction is made with other Cyberfire  Transformers reveals hidden symbols.

There is no assembling required except for attaching the Dragonstorm's tail and wings. I actually found the wings extremely annoying as they kept falling off, I think a better clip is needed especially, knowing that children can play rough and these wings will not stay on.

To Transform the Dragonstorm into the Knight you need to press and hold the handle on the back of the Dragonstorm, pulling the handle up and back to reveal the Knight. It's a one motion change so extremely easy for children to do themselves.

In Knight mode the arms are posable being able to lift them up and bend at the elbows, However, I was disappointed to see that the legs are fixed and do not move.  The tail from Dragonstorm mode is removed to be used as a sword in the knight's hand.

There are two ways to activate sound, one by pressing the button on the knight's chest, and secondly by pulling the handle.
Watch the head of the dragon and Knight light up as they speak, with over 20 sound effects and phrases from the film.
Phrases include "We are sworn to protect", "Three heads are better than one" and "Quintessa stand down!" roaring and other mechanical sounds can also be heard.

The detailing to the overall toy is fantastic attention to detail has been thoroughly thought out as every single piece of plastic is covered in a design or pattern of some sorts. Even the handle is appropriately designed in the overall style of the product, so doesn't look out of place at all.

Batteries are required for this toy however they do come included which saves me one less job.
If you would like to purchase more batteries then this toy takes 2 x AAA.

Overall I think I don't think I would personally buy this, I feel its ridiculously overpriced for what it is and can do. This time I feel that your really only paying for the brand name on this one.
The wings and the fact that the legs don't move is a huge letdown and for £79.99 I just can't justify the spend.

If you are looking to get this then I would highly recommend buying this at a reduced price.

Play-Doh Creations // Magical Oven & Sizzlin' Stovetop Review

We love Play-Doh in this house, I always buy the boys a set of Play-Doh at Christmas or on birthday's I know it's something that will always be played with no matter the weather and it never goes out of fashion!

One of our favourite things to do is to pull the Play-Doh out on rainy days. We have a huge set up on the dining room table and the boys love it! We can easily spend all afternoon creating, the possibilities are endless.

Last week we were sent two of the newest Play-Doh  Kitchen Creations sets, the Magical Oven and the Sizzlin' Stovetop.

Magical Oven

Calling all aspiring bakers, the Magical Oven is a fantastic opportunity to practise your baking skills.
Use the play-doh to mould and bake your favourite pastries and cupcakes.

Put your creation into the oven, close the door and pull the handle down to activate the light inside.
Once it's finished baking the light will change from red to white! Don't forget to listen out for the Ding! as well.

The set comes with the following:

Magical Oven
6 x pots of play-doh
3x shape cutters
1 x rolling pin
1 x knife, fork, and spoon
3 x pastry moulds
1 x cupcake tray
1 x pastry tray
1 x plate

There is such a variety to be made, we had so much fun making our little play-doh goodies.
From Pizzas and pies to cookies and cakes, there is so much to make. I especially love that the oven has lots of little moulds all over it, my youngest Archie loved being able to make a family of mini gingerbread men from it.

Magical Oven £24.99
(Batteries not included)

Sizzlin' Stovetop

Time to get Sizzlin in the kitchen with the Sizzlin' Stovetop
Here children can practise their fine cooking skills, cooking a steak dinner, frying an egg and make lots of their favourite or not so favourite veggies.

Hear the food sizzle as you cook and using real cooking sounds, the sound intensifies as you add your creations to the pans!
The stovetop requires 3 AA batteries in order to use the sound function.

The box contains:

5 x Play-doh
2 x Plates
1 x Fork
1 x Knife
1 x Spatula
1 x Tongs
1 x Rollin pin
4 x Food cutters
2 x Cooking Pans
1 x Sizzlin' stove

It's perfect for learning through play not just via colours and shapes but by learning about different types of food and how to cook food. I asked the boys to make healthy meal ideas along with making some of their favourite desserts using the Magic Oven.  We were able to discuss what foods are healthy and what foods are more as a treat type food.
This then transferred over to real life as both of the boys took an interest in helping me cook at dinner time.

                                                                Sizzlin' Stovetop £21.99

(Batteries not included)

Play-Doh is a brand we know and love the quality and selection of products in the range are all that I would expect from Play-Doh and the prices are fantastic for what you get.

If you are struggling with gifts then Play-Doh is what you need, I already have my eyes on several sets for the boys this Christmas. like I said above it doesn't go out of fashion and it's fun as well as educational.

Disney's Tangled Swinging Locks Castle Review

Earlier this year Disney launched a brand new programme called Tangled the Series.
For those that have seen the original film will know the storyline, for those that haven't it's the story of Rapunzel, a princess who was stolen from her kingdom as a baby and locked away in a tower by the jealous and greedy Mother Gothel because of her magical healing hair.

The series focuses on Rapunzel's life after being reunited with her family and her fitting into everyday royal life.

With the launch of the series comes a selection of new Disney merchandise which we have been super lucky to review two products from the line.

Spin 'n Style Rapunzel

First up is the Spin 'n Style Rapunzel doll,  Tangled fans now have the chance to restyle Rapunzel's  long locks with a selection of fun hair accessories.

Squeeze Rapunzel's dress to make her spin as you style her hair and when you're finished why not add a couple of clips or hair plugs to finish the look.

Box Contents

1 x 11" Rapunzel Doll
2 x Hair clips
6 x Hair plugs
1 x Hair Brush

The doll is very easy to use, there are some fun additions to play with, it would of been nice to of had more of a selection in hair accessories but a lovely toy for any little child that loves dolls and Disney.

Spin 'n Style Rapunzel £24.95

Swinging Locks Castle

Next up is Rapunzel's Swinging Locks Castle, a double sided play set with many accessories and even a zip line!
Here your little ones can explore Rapunzel's castle, from chasing Rapunzel and Pascal down the long locks zip line to hoisting and lowering Pascal in his bucket.

Explore the castle both inside and out, with many adventures to be made by your little ones.
And when all the adventures have finished Rapunzel can take a nap, finish a painting or spin the sundial at the top to make the lanterns whirl in the night sky.

Assembling the playset is extremely easy and took me a matter of seconds, so can easily be assembled by a child if needed.

Swinging Locks Castle £41.99

This is a must have play set for any Disney Princess and Tangled fan,
With so much fun to be had for your little ones, this is a perfect gift and even better Christmas present for those like me who are shopping already.

*All items featured were sent in exchange for a review, all thoughts and photos are my own unless stated.

Star Wars the Force Link Starter Set & Interactive Kylo Ren Review

We love Star Wars in this house, my eldest has just started getting into the films which is fantastic.  As a family, we have all grown up in different era's of the Star Wars franchise, Mr.S grew up watching the Empire Strikes Back and Revenge of the Jedi. I grew up watching The Phantom Menace, Revenge of the Syth and Attack of the Clones and our boys will grow up with Rogue one, The Force Awakens and many more including the newest Star Wars film The Last Jedi.

This week we have been testing out some of the newest Star Wars toys from the upcoming film,
A Force Link Starter Set and an interactive Kylo Ren Figure.

Star Wars Force Link Starter Set and Figures

Welcome to the force, the force link starter set is a wearable electronic ID reader that when in play brings your force links characters to life via motion controlled phrases.

This wearable wrist device was a firm favourite for 6 year old, Alfie, it was extremely easy to set up. Once taken from the packet, the only setup was to install some batteries and away he could play!

The wristwatch is extremely easy for children to put on. To activate the device a tap is required on the force link and it's time to play!

The device is best used with a figure, we had Kylo Ren in the starter pack and then a separate pack with a classic stormtrooper in. You gotta love a stormtrooper right?

Each character has a mini chip inside that is detected by the force link when held close by. One of the fun things about this set is that it is compatible with other toys in the force link series.

The 3.75 inch scale figures are extremely detailed, I was extremely impressed by the quality and wouldn't hesitate to purchase more for Alfie to play with.  However, for younger children like Archie (3 years old) I would be more inclined to give him a larger toy like the large interactive Kylo Ren figure.

Link starter set £24.99
Single figure pack £9.99

Interactive Kylo Ren Figure

This interactive Kylo Ren figure is a perfect addition to any Star Wars fans collection. With over 60 animated phrases, little and even big kids will love to reenact their favourite scenes with this toy.

Kylo Ren comes with a removable Helmet, which when attached to his head activates authentic voice phrases and sound effects from the film.

For more sound effects press the buckle on Kylo's belt, he will also activate sounds and phrases with a shake.  Watch out for Kylo Ren's light sabre, battle sounds are activated when motion is detected.

The quality of the figure could be better, in my opinion, I wouldn't want to pay the full price as I feel the figure isn't as well made as it could have been. The detail and likeliness of the figure to the real Kylo Ren is spot on, however, the materials used to make the doll is extremely lightweight and I would have expected that for the price of £37.99 he would at least be poseable but his arms and legs do not bend which is a shame.

Both of my boys have had hours, of fun with both toys but for us, the force link starter set was our winner.

* Items in this post where sent to me in exchange for an honest review. All opinions and photos are that of my own.

My Little Pony Review: Canterlot and Seaquestria Castle & Pinky Pie Swimming Seapony

When a dark force threatens PonyVille, Twilight Sparkle and her friends must embark on a journey to save the land of Equestria.

Will the power of friendship triumph over evil or will the dark forces prevail?

A Jam-packed star-studded cast, featuring the voices of  Emily Blunt, Sia, Uzo Aduba, Kristin Chenoweth and Zoe Saldana.
A fantastic family film for this autumn.

With the upcoming release of the new My Little Pony Movie in October,
we have been kindly sent a couple of the newest toys from the film to review.

Canterlot and Seaquestria castle

The Canterlot and Seaquestria Castle is a 2 level playset.

Explore the world of Canterlot on the 1st level, then take a plunge into the sea below
 to Queen Novo at Seaquestria.

The set is approximately 29 inches tall, and much bigger than I expected which was a nice surprise.
The set comes with 1 Pony figure (Queen Novo), a sidekick friend ( Spike the puffer fish)
and 30 fun accessories to play with.

Travel down below to Seaquestria to find the hidden treasures in the jellyfish chandelier,
take a spin on the spinning octopus and slide down the pink glittery slide.
There is so much fun to be had with Queen Novo and Spike.

When all fun has been had below at Seaquestria take the lift above to Canterlot
where your ponies can enjoy dancing under the tower,
pack for the beach and even plan a tea party!

This is a fantastic playset, brightly coloured as well as being both visually and physically stimulating for your children.
There is so much to do and so many accessories to interact with
from little teacups and saucers to a rubber duck, goggles and vanity accessories.

Putting the playset together was a fairly easy task, I did get a bit stuck on attaching the two levels,
However, I found building it on a table much easier than trying to do it on the floor.

If you can have an extra pair of hands to help then it's even easier.
Once the set is built it's extremely sturdy and able to withstand my toddler and a 6 year old playing on it.

If you're looking for a large playset for your little ones then this is the set to get.
The set retails for around £75-£80

A perfect gift for Christmas!

Pinkie Pie Swimming Seapony

Bath time is about to get a whole lot more fun with the Pinkie Pie swimming Seapony!
Touch the two buttons on Pinkie Pie's side to activate her tail then watch her swim on her own.
See her tail glow as she swims and there's even a comb to comb her gorgeous mermaid mane.

A perfect toy and a fantastic gift idea.
You can buy the Pinkie Pie Swimming Seapony for £19.99
Batteries are included.

* We were kindly sent the above items for a review all photos and opinions are that of my own.
